Opening Reception: Weltansicht: 세계관 by Kyoungho Isaac Kim

Weltansicht: 세계관 presents new paintings by Baltimore based artist Kyoungho Isaac Kim, Red Giant’s resident artist. Weltansicht is the German word for worldview, a person’s general way of looking at life and reality, often shaped by language and culture. 세계관 is its Korean equivalent.

Working in oil, acrylic, and Hanji, Kim layers the hyperreal Korean territories of the internet over Western cultural imagery, considering how these images testify to the post imperial aesthetic that surrounds us. The paintings look to Philip Guston and Gerhard Richter, who processed the sociopolitical subjects of their time through painting, and to the meditative, iterative mark making of Korean painters Park Seo Bo, Lee Ufan, and Kim Whanki.

Opening reception Friday, October 30, 6 to 9pm, alongside the opening of Signs & Wonders by Kyle Kogut. On view through December 12, 2026, with a closing reception Saturday, December 12, 6 to 8pm.
