Artist Book Workshop: The Accordion Fold

About Event

October 17, 2026, 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Mark the final days of Ashley Minner Jones’s artist residency at BMA Lexington Market by reflecting on the place today known as Baltimore. Create your own accordion artist book—perfect for visual storytelling. Beautiful alternative photo-process prints (salt prints and cyanotypes and anthotypes, oh my!) will be available as cover papers, as will hand-decorated paste papers from previous weeks.

No experience necessary!

Location
BMA Lexington Market is located in the Upper Market near the Baltimore Room at 112 N. Eutaw Street.

About Ashley Minner Jones
Ashley Minner Jones is a community-based visual artist and folklorist from Baltimore. Her interdisciplinary practice is deeply rooted in place—usually within the context of the U.S. South—and focused on honoring and celebrating everyday people by lifting up their stories. Her artwork has been exhibited widely and is represented in several prominent collections. Her research is being archived as “the Ashley Minner Collection” in the Albin O. Kuhn Library of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. A monograph on one of her recent projects, a reconstruction of East Baltimore’s historic American Indian “reservation,” is forthcoming. Jones earned an MFA in community arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art and a Ph.D. in American studies from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is an enrolled citizen of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina.

About the BMA Lexington Market Artist-in-Residence Program
The Baltimore Museum of Art at Lexington Market (BMA LM) Artist-in-Residence Program places six artists within one of Baltimore’s most historically layered public spaces. The program invites artists to serve as both practitioners and public-facing cultural hosts, contributing to an evolving conversation around art, community, and the role of institutions and public spaces in Baltimore City.
