About Event

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot is a series organized by Flying House Arts Collective in the Red Giant project space, exploring the relationship between painting, photography, and sculpture. Across three one week exhibitions with panel discussions, the series pairs two artists from different media to look at the narrative tension that can emerge between them, and to reexamine the stereotypes, contrasts, and associations that have formed around each.

Vol. 1.1, Infinite Jest: Between Painting and Photography, pairs photographer Colin Klavins with painter Bliss Army Knife. Both artists have made work centered on the theatrical setting of boxing, Colin through his long exposure boxing series and Bliss through painting. The panel revisits the long debate over authenticity in photography and painting, starting with a closer look at the palm prints and power held in different pairs of boxing gloves.

Opening and panel discussion Friday, November 6, 5 to 7pm. $5 RSVP. On view by appointment through November 14.

Red Giant is located at 403 N. Paca Street, Baltimore, MD 21201. To make an appointment, DM us on Instagram @redgiantgallery, email us at redgiantgallery@gmail.com, or call (410) 989-1430.
