Qrcky describes their practice as guided by depth — emotional, visual, and spiritual— using constructed and discovered layers to examine identity, movement, and memory. The work often leans into black-and-white contrasts, bold lines, and extra dimensionality, creating compositions that feel simultaneously graphic and atmospheric.

Each piece is developed from the core outward, with light and shadow acting as structural tools rather than mere effects. This approach gives the work a sense of internal architecture: viewers sense there is something beneath the surface — a set of hidden histories, tensions, and connections asking to be considered rather than simply observed. The goal is for people to pause, recalibrate, and question what they assume, not just what they see.

What is your favorite public art piece, mural, or installation?

“A mural by Ernest Shaw in the city is truly a sight to behold. The scale, detail, and energy of his work always leave me inspired.”

Where do you love to go in the district?

“I’ve been working with Maryland Art Place (MAP) for years, and they know me personally. As a person of color, it’s easy to feel out of place in many fine art spaces, but MAP always welcomes me with kindness and support. Their encouragement makes it easy to stay inspired and keep creating.”

What inspires your work?

“My work is inspired by depth—emotional, visual, and spiritual. I build every piece from the inside out, letting light, shadow, and lived experience guide the structure.”
