Shea Kister

Captivated by how trauma can affect memory as well as an understanding of one’s relationships; I enlist notions of fragmentation, repetition, discontinuity, memory distortion, and dissociation in my work using contrasting scale, surface application, and materials. My recent work focuses on when places, people, and/ or objects of comfort transform and embody discomfort and avoidance – creating manifestations of how feeling indescribable emotions can be outwardly represented.
